빌리 조엘 (Billy Joel)
1949년 5월 9일 미국의 뉴욕 주 뉴욕시 브롱크스에서 태어났다. 14세때부터 밴드에서 활동했으며, 1971년 1집 앨범 을 발표하며 솔로 활동을 시작하였다. 1973년 싱글 'Piano Man'으로 큰 성공을 거둔 그는 1993년 신규 음반 제작에서 은퇴할 때까지 많은 히트 곡들을 발표했다.
총 6번 그래미 상을 수상했으며, 전 세계적으로 1억장 이상의 음반 판매고를 올렸으며, RIAA에 따르면 그는 미국에서 6번째로 많은 음반 판매고를 올린 가수라고 한다.
주요 음반으로는 Piano Man>, Storm Front>, River Of Dreams> 등이 있다. |
